Acupuncture
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient healing practice that originated in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) over 2,000 years ago. It involves the insertion of ultra-fine, sterile, stainless steel needles into specific points on the body to help restore balance, promote natural healing, and alleviate a wide range of physical, mental, and emotional health conditions. Acupuncture stimulates the body's qi (energy) flow, which circulates through pathways called meridians.
When the flow of qi becomes stagnant or blocked, it can lead to illness or pain. Acupuncture helps to disinhibit the flow of qi which allows the body to heal itself and maintain optimal health.
How Does Acupuncture Work?
Acupuncture is based on the principle that the body has a natural ability to heal itself. By targeting specific acupuncture points, the nervous system is stimulated, releasing endorphins (the body's natural painkillers), and enhance blood circulation, which helps reduce pain and improve overall function.
TCM not only addresses symptoms but also seeks to understand the root cause of discomfort or disease. Whether it's chronic pain, digestive issues, stress, hormonal imbalances, or preventative care, acupuncture offers a non-invasive and drug-free alternative for restoring balance and well-being.
What Can Acupuncture Treat?
Acupuncture is commonly used for conditions such as:
● Pain management (back pain, sciatica, neck pain, heachaches, arthritis)
● Stress and anxiety relief
● Insomnia and sleep disorders
● Digestive disorders (GERD, IBS/IBD, constipation, bloating, appetite management)
● Muscle tension and stiffness
● Women's health (menstrual irregularities, fertility support, pre- and post natal care)
● Allergies and respiratory issues, immune system support
Is Acupuncture Safe?
Yes! Acupuncture is considered safe when performed by a licensed and trained practitioner. Sterile, single-use stainless steel needles are used for our treatments. Most patients report feeling very relaxed and rejuvenated post-treatment.

Is Acupuncture good for kids?
Acupuncture is an incredible therapy for children and babies! We offer a special form of Japanese acupuncture used for infants and toddlers which utilizes "needles" that do not actually puncture the skin. This method is referred to as Shoni Shin. It is a practice that gently uses small tools to stimulate and encourage healing through tapping, rubbing, and pressing.
Children heal quickly. Their young age and rapid growth allows for their bodies to heal quickly. As a result of this, children respond to Shoni Shin, acupuncture, and laser acupuncture much faster than adults do.
Shoni Shin and pediatric acupuncture commonly treat:
● Digestive discomforts (reflux, colic, constipation, irregular bowel movements)
● Emotional upset or mood swings, tendency towards irritability, hyperactivity
● Growing pains
● Immune system support (seasonal allergies, eczema, recurring colds, congestion)
